Sakarya is getting the rail system it has been longing for for many years with the project prepared under the leadership of Mayor Ekrem Yüce and included in the investment program. The feasibility study for the 4-kilometer Campus-Bazaar Line of the 9-stage project prepared by Yüce and his team has started. Yüce said, “A brand new page is opening in the transportation of our Sakarya. After feasibility, the first digging will be done for the construction process. Included in the investment program
Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem Yüce worked with great care and dedication on the rail system project that the city has been longing for for many years. The work, which has been awaited for many years to be included in the investment program, was accepted with the latest project presented by Yüce to the ministry. Good news came from Ankara and the project was included in the investment program with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the approval of Minister of Transport Abdülkadir Uraloğlu.
Rail system to university
President Ekrem Yüce, General Director of Infrastructure and Investments of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Dr. He hosted Yalçın Eyigün in his office and the first protocol prepared was signed between the two parties. The Campus-Carsi line, which covers the busiest areas of the city, Gar Square, Çark Street and Medeniyet Boulevard, will be a brand new alternative to transportation in the heart of the city.
Feasibility study started
Passengers will be able to get on and off the rail system at 9 different stops on the university route, and the project will greatly relieve vehicle traffic in the center. Mayor Yüce announced that the feasibility study has started for the first line to be built. Yüce and his team aim to later add Atatürk Boulevard-Sakarya Park (Erenler), Yeni Stadium-Arifiye Terminal and Yenikent-Adapazarı (metrobus) lines to Sakarya transportation.

Stating that Sakarya transportation will revolutionize and reach contemporary levels with the rail system project, he said, “As a result of the Sakarya Transportation Master Plan update, which was completed as of 2022, we classified the rail and metrobus system lines according to their construction years as short, medium and long term, and the ministry approved it. We will take our city's transportation to contemporary levels thanks to the rail system, which is a truly revolutionary step in our city's transportation infrastructure. This success is the result of our years of efforts and strategic planning. "After the feasibility study, the first digging will be done for the construction process," he said.
Highest traffic areas
Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality's transportation expert teams prepared the urban rail system project by giving priority to areas with high transportation density.
