'We wanted to bring together science, art and civil society studies at the same event'
Speaking at the opening of the Flamingo Festival and the 20th Turkey Bird Conference, Doğa Association Chairman Dicle Tuba Kılıç said, "With the support of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, we are organizing both the Flamingo Festival and the 20th Turkey Bird Conference in Izmir's Gediz Delta this year. The conference is held in memory of Önder Cırık, who lost his life in the February 6, 2023 Earthquake and worked for the protection of nature for many years.” He said and added: “This year we tried to bring different participants together by combining the Conference with the Flamingo Festival. Birds were present in our culture and art long before scientific studies. For this reason, we wanted to bring together science, art and civil society studies at the same event. “We would like to thank everyone with whom we came together to defend the right to life of birds.” said.
