Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that Turkey continues its work in the field of space with determination in order to play a more active role on the world stage at the beginning of the 21st century. Minister Uraloğlu stated that the country's satellite broadcasting adventure started with TÜRKSAT 1B and now reached its peak with TÜRKSAT 6A, the first domestic communication satellite, and said, "We continue our work with determination to have a mark in space in order to have a say in the world at the beginning of the Turkey Century."

TÜRKSAT 6A TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

When completed, TÜRKSAT 6A will serve at 42 east longitude and will be located in a geocentric orbit, at a distance of 35 thousand 786 kilometers. The local and national communication satellite with a power of 7,5 kW will be equipped with 20 transmitters. The satellite will serve in Ku band and will provide access to regions such as South-East Asia that previous satellites did not reach.

Minister Uraloğlu said, “Producing critical components such as the Flight Computer, Power Distribution Unit, Electric Propulsion Engine and Fuel Tank with domestic resources will reduce foreign dependency and increase the rate of localization. With the protocol signed between our Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, TÜBİTAK and TÜRKSAT, the project contract of TÜRKSAT 6A was signed on December 15, 2014, with the participation of our President. Our TÜRKSAT 11A communication satellite, which will take our country among the top 6 in the world that can produce communication satellites; When completed, it will serve at 42 east longitude. It will be in a geocentric orbit at a distance of 35 thousand 786 kilometers. Our local and national communication satellite, which will have a power of 7,5 kW, will have 20 transmitters. Our TÜRKSAT 6A satellite will serve in Ku band and will also provide service to new geographies such as South-East Asia, which were not covered by previous TÜRKSAT satellites. The mission period of our satellite is planned to be 15 years. It will reduce foreign dependency in the satellite and space sector with the production of critical components such as Flight Computer, Power Distribution Unit, Electric Propulsion Engine, Fuel Tank, Power Processing and Control Unit with domestic facilities and high localization rate.

WORKS COMPLETED IN TÜRKSAT 6A

Noting that the TÜRKSAT 6A project is carried out in cooperation with TÜRKSAT, SSB and TAI, Minister Uraloğlu said, “The assembly, integration and tests of the TÜRKSAT-6A satellite continue in cooperation with TÜRKSAT, SSB and TAI. Right now; In the TÜRKSAT 3A satellite project, where 6 separate models are planned to be produced: Thermal Structural Qualification Model, Engineering Model and Flight Model, the production, integration and testing of Thermal Structural and Engineering Models have been completed. "The first system level functional tests, thermal vacuum test, vibration test, acoustic test and electromagnetic compatibility tests have been completed," he said.

WORKS TO BE DONE IN TÜRKSAT 6A

Minister Uraloğlu announced that TÜRKSAT 6A is aimed to be ready for transportation on March 31, 2024, and that it is planned to be launched into space on June 2021, 16, in accordance with the contract signed with the Space X company in July 2024. Minister Uraloğlu said, “Preparations for the system level compact area antenna test (CATR), which is the final test phase, have started. Deployment tests of the antenna and solar panels will begin in October, and the Launcher Compatibility and Pyro Tests and final alignment tests will begin in November. After the CATR, or compact area antenna test, solar panels integration and mass properties measurement will be carried out in February 2024. "With the completion of all these tests, our satellite will be ready for delivery to the launch site," he said.

TÜRKSAT 6A DELIVERY AND LAUNCH DATES

Noting that they aim for TÜRKSAT 6A to be ready for transportation on March 31, 2024, Minister Uraloğlu said, “The TÜRKSAT 6A launch services supply contract with the Space X company was signed and entered into force in July 2021. Contractual coordinations are carried out by TÜRKSAT, which is under the responsibility of our ministry.
