Gümüşhane Governor Alper Tanrısever said that superstructure works are continuing at Gümüşhane-Bayburt Airport with an annual capacity of 60 million passengers, which will be Turkey's 2th airport if it is completed on the planned date.

Within the scope of his visit to Köse district, Governor Tanrısever, together with Köse District Governor Hakan Öznay, Köse Mayor Turgay Kesler and other protocol members, inspected Gümüşhane-Bayburt Airport, the foundation of which was laid by the then Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım in 2018.

Giving information to Governor Tanrısever and his accompanying delegation at the work site, Airport Control Chief Bilal Timur said that the runway length of the project at international standards is 3 thousand meters, that they have the same runway length as other airports in the region, and that the terminal building and other facilities were built with a capacity to serve 2 million passengers annually.

Governor Tanrısever, who made a statement to the journalists at Gümüşhane-Bayburt Airport, where the runway, apron and infrastructure have been completed and the first flight is planned to be completed next year after inspecting the areas where the work is ongoing, said that they will request the deficiencies and minor changes regarding the airport connection roads from the Ministry of Transport.
