According to the data published by the China Bicycle Association on the occasion of World Car-Free Cities Day on September 17, the total number of bicycles in China, the world's largest bicycle manufacturer and exporter, exceeded 200 million.
The results of the study, conducted in eight cities including Beijing, Changsha and Chengdu, showed that residents used bicycles for 100 out of 30 trips. It was noted that thanks to bicycle use throughout China, carbon emissions decreased by approximately 10 thousand tons every day, and this amount was equivalent to saving approximately 6,6 million liters of gasoline.
