IMM provides nutritional support to students within the scope of the 'School Nutrition Support Project'. The distributions, which take place in over 39 schools in 100 districts, will continue at regular intervals throughout the year.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), which is not indifferent to the economic difficulties experienced by families, prepared the 'School Nutrition Support Project' for students. Within the scope of the project, nutritional support is provided to students in front of schools to ensure that primary and secondary school students have access to healthy food.
One of the schools where the distribution took place was Arif Nihat Asya Primary School in Küçükçekmece. Nutrition support was provided by distribution vehicles and personnel placed at the entrance of the school. Nutritional support includes sandwiches prepared with fresh foods, milk, fruit and water.
BOTH PARENTS AND STUDENTS ARE HAPPY
Parents who brought their children to school were satisfied with the application. The children happily took their packages and entered their classrooms. Zeynep Şahin, one of the parents, stated that she liked the project very much and said, “I have 3 children, I prepare their nutrition myself to make it healthier. It is not clear what is outside, but the food here is healthy and fresh. We were very happy. Today, children are happier too..." he said.
IT WILL REACH 900 THOUSAND CHILDREN
Within the scope of the 'School Nutrition Support Project' implemented by the IMM Social Services Directorate, 5 thousand meals are distributed daily.
The nutritional support, which will be distributed for 2023 school days in the 2024-180 academic year, is aimed to be delivered to 900 thousand students by the end of the year.
