At the night, awards in the Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze categories were presented to the representatives of the top 2022 companies that exported the most in the automotive industry in 108. A total of 270 companies were given export contribution certificates.

The award ceremony started with the corporate film of the automotive industry, which exports to more than 200 countries and regions registered with the United Nations, including small island countries. In the film, the automotive industry is a pioneer in innovation with nearly 200 R&D and Design Centers and 50 thousand engineers, exports more than 30 billion dollars a year, employs 550 thousand people, produces 9 vehicles every three minutes, exports 6 of them and It was emphasized that it is a giant sector that creates a value of 200 thousand dollars.

“Turkish automotive industry has turned into a center of excellence”

Making the opening speech, OIB Chairman Baran Çelik said that Turkey is 13th in the world and fourth in Europe in vehicle production and has become a center of excellence as the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in Europe. Stating that Turkey has demonstrated its visionary power in the automotive sector by starting to take its place strongly in the production capacity of alternative energy vehicles, especially electricity, with its first domestic and national automobile, TOGG, Çelik said: "Although it varies from year to year, it realizes an average of 15 percent of the country's exports on its own. As the automotive industry, which has had a foreign trade surplus of 2006 billion dollars since 80, we continue our export leadership on a sectoral basis. "We applaud our entire export family, especially our automotive exporters, who work devotedly and fly the Turkish flag all over the world," he said.

“There is a need for increased awareness in green transformation”

Emphasizing that there is a new mobility order consisting of autonomous, electric, connected and shared vehicles in the world automotive industry, and that the sustainability approach is the number one agenda item in the world at a time when cars are now perceived as "technological devices", Baran Çelik said, "Therefore, we need to create a disruptive approach to be a strong part of the great transformation." We must realize the necessary transformation in technologies and green transformation. We have implemented the Sustainability Action Plan (OSEP) in the Turkish Automotive Sector within the scope of TİM's Sustainability Action Plan in order to raise awareness in green transformation and to guide the sector by preparing the infrastructure on the Constitution. "As OİB, we will organize the Future of Automotive Design Competition for the most innovative start-ups that will shape the future of the sector and increase value-added exports, this year with the theme of Sustainability, in the Informatics Valley on October 25," he said.

Stating that they exceeded their targets in the first eight months of this year and exported 17 billion dollars, an increase of 22,8 percent compared to last year, Çelik said, “We believe that we will close this year with a historical record of 100 billion dollars, with a performance befitting the honor of the 34th anniversary of the founding of our Republic.
