Membership certificate presented to CEO Kadri Samsunlu

Launched in 2010, the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Program supports educational collaborations aimed at the safe, secure and sustainable development of global air transport.

The certificate of the program was presented to IGA Istanbul Airport CEO Kadri Samsunlu by ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar at the ceremony within the scope of “ICAO – Global Implementation Support Symposium” held in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, on May 31, 2023. At the ceremony, it was emphasized that IGA Istanbul Airport's TRAINAIR PLUS Program is the only private institution from Turkey that is a member. Samsunlu also participated as a speaker in the panel titled “Challenges Facing Civil Aviation Stakeholders on Implementation Support and Resilience” at the event organized by ICAO.

Underlining that aviation is a system of interconnected components in his speech, Kadri Samsunlu said, “In this system, if even a single component is faulty, the effectiveness of the entire network may be endangered. We have seen this in the example of China,” he said.

Emphasizing the importance of a needs-based approach, developing cooperation and partnerships among civil aviation stakeholders, and following technological innovations, Samsunlu emphasized that as İGA, they are ready to provide comprehensive support to initiatives aiming at long-term industrial growth.
