Peng Liyuan, the wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, and the African Women's First Organization (OAFLA) organized an event called “China – Africa Love for Orphan Children” in line with June 1, World Children's Day.

Staff and medical teams from Chinese embassies in African countries went to local orphanages and visited children. Chinese staff gave the children free medical examinations and gift bags.

Peng Liyuan stated that China has always been a friend of Africa. Pointing out that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the Chinese government's sending medical teams to Africa, Peng noted that the Chinese medical teams are "envoys in white clothes", helping the peoples of African countries and advancing China-Africa friendship.

Monica Geingos, wife of the President of Namibia, who holds the rotating presidency of OAFLA, and other members appreciated Peng Liyuan's long-standing support for the advancement of women and children's cause in Africa.
