Family Therapy Center Adnan Menderes Branch, put into service by Keçiören Municipality, was opened. The facility was opened with the participation of Keçiören Mayor Turgut Altınok, Keçiören District Governor Mehmet Akçay, AK Party Keçiören District President Zafer Çoktan, city council members, representatives of political parties and non-governmental organizations.
In his speech at the opening, Keçiören Mayor Turgut Altınok said, “During the pandemic period, I said, 'There will be 4 problems that will have a domino effect.' And so it did. These were economic, political, psychological and sociological problems. We opened the first branch of our Family Therapy Center to provide free psychological support to our citizens. This is our second branch. Good luck.” said.
“DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND VIOLENCE TO WOMEN ARE MOST EXPERIENCED”
In his speech, Altınok drew attention to domestic violence and violence against women in Turkey and said:
“Currently, domestic violence and violence against women are the most common in crime rates and crime types. This is happening all over Turkey. Keçiören was in the second place in Turkey. Now that ratio is a little lower. So is that enough? Of course it's not enough. The happiness of the family means the happiness of the society. The happiness of the family is the happiness of the child. The unhappiness of the family means the unhappiness of the society and the children. Here, we will provide therapy services to our children, adolescents and adults. In our first branch, we have served more than 25 thousand citizens so far. This is our second branch. In this respect, Keçiören Municipality is the municipality of firsts, it is the municipality of innovations. Of course, we do not stop there. We also have weight. We also have a dietitian center here. We provide this service by saying 'How can you lose weight, how can you live healthy'. Psychiatric centers are overcrowded right now. We set out on how to rehabilitate our society and solve problems and opened our Family Therapy Centers. We are concerned about how we can minimize the problems. We are also concerned about how we can make people, who are the most beautiful creatures created by Allah, live happily. There is a lot of demand here from outside of Keçiören. There is a high demand for this area from all walks of life. Hopefully, these centers will lead to the reduction and elimination of domestic violence."
In the opening ceremony by cutting the ribbon, one lucky citizen was given a bicycle and another a washing machine was given as a gift.
FIRST BRANCH STARTED IN 2020
While the Family Therapy Center Adnan Menderes Branch started to provide free services with psychologists in the fields of adult, child and adolescent counseling, nutrition and diet, the first free Family Therapy Center of the municipality started to serve in 2020.
