1 kilometers of the 110-kilometer main transmission line, which will provide drinking water from the İvedik Treatment Plant to Polatlı and provide healthy and uninterrupted drinking water to 70 million people, has been completed. In project scope; Manufacturing works continue in the Sincan Zir Valley and Tatlar region.

The final gospel in the “Ivedik-Temelli-Polatlı Drinking Water Transmission Line, Warehouse, Pumping Stations and Facilities Construction Project” carried out by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and its subsidiary Ankara Water and Sewerage Administration (ASKİ) General Directorate is now very close. In the project, which was started on 2020 October Republic Day in 29, the last 40 kilometers were entered.

Within the scope of the giant project, manufacturing works are currently carried out in the Zir Valley and Tatlar regions located in the Yenimahalle district, Cengiz Aytmatov Street and Sincan Mustafa Kemal Neighborhood. It is planned that the Zir Valley will be reopened to traffic with the completion of 8 kilometers of production in the area within 2 months.

Simultaneous work in Mustafa Kemal District and Zir Valley

ASKİ General Manager Erdoğan Öztürk, together with his accompanying technical team, supervised the ongoing manufacturing works in Zir Valley. Providing information about the project here, Öztürk said, “As ASKİ, we continue to scalpel the problems of infrastructure, sewerage and storm water lines, which have become gangrenous because the capital Ankara has been neglected for years. You know, the people of Polatlı have been suffering from water for years. Therefore, the Polatlı project was a priority for us.”

Targeted to be completed in 2023

Öztürk said, “We are approaching the end of our drinking water line, which will benefit approximately 1 million people from Ankara Merkez İvedik Drinking Water Treatment Plants, including Sincan, Temelli and Polatlı. We had only one goal; Before the completion of 2023, to complete this construction work, which has been missed and expected for years, and present it to our people. We are about to achieve that," he said. Ozturk said:

“We started the works within the scope of the tender in İvedik. We are constructing 3 warehouses, 1 pumping center and 110 kilometers of steel drinking water transmission line in various diameters from Temelli to Polatlı. Our project, which will serve one and a half million people in total, will address a part of Etimesgut district, Sincan Saray TOKİ region, Yenikent, Temelli, Anayurt Mahallesi, Anadolu OIZ, Dökümcüler OIZ, Başkent OIZ and Polatlı District. As of May 29, 2023, we have laid 70 kilometers of pipes in various diameters so far. Currently, our teams are working on Cengiz Aytmatov Street in Yenimahalle. As of May 15, 2023, we started manufacturing works in the Zir Valley and Tatlar regions in Sincan Mustafa Kemal District. We will finish the 8-kilometer-long production here in 2 months and thus open the valley to vehicle traffic.”

Öztürk also stated that they prioritize worker health and work safety during excavation and construction works. Öztürk stated that the main transmission line passing through İvedik, Temelli and Polatlı was originally planned to be approximately 107 kilometers, but with the revision works, the length of the line was increased to 110 kilometers.
