Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) started the restoration of Atatürk House, where Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk stayed in Haymana for a while during the Battle of Sakarya and led and led the war.

Restoration and landscaping work will be carried out in the historical place, which was built in the 1900s and has an area of ​​400 square meters. The works, which will cost 2 million 700 thousand TL, are planned to be completed in 5 months. After Gölbaşı Halaçlı Mehmet Ağa Mansion, ABB brings Atatürk House, now located in Haymana Calis Neighbourhood, to the capital's heritage tourism.

The village room where Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk directed the Battle of Sakarya and made decisions; It consists of an entrance and a sitting area. The house, where shrapnel and old items from the war were exhibited as a museum for a period, will be restored by ABB by preserving its original structure.

Bekir Ödemiş, Head of the Department of Cultural and Natural Heritage, stated that they started the works for the restoration of the house in line with the request from the Headman of Calis District and Haymana Municipality, and said:

“With the approval of the Haymana District Governorate, we started the restoration works by making a decision in our Metropolitan Municipality Council in 2022. Then we prepared our survey, restitution and restoration projects. After our projects were accepted by the Ankara Cultural and Natural Heritage Conservation Regional Board and the tender process was completed, we started the restoration work in the beginning of May. In its restoration, we will preserve the original identity of this building and keep its history alive.”

Stating that restoration work, gardening and landscaping works will be carried out in the 225 square meter garden, Ödemiş said, “In this way, we will protect our cultural heritage, which has an important place in the past of Ankara, which played an important role in the Battle of Sakarya, and transfer it to future generations, and we will preserve the architectural structure with an identity.” spoke.
