Netflix's new deal with Sony will start paying dividends to fans of the streaming platform from early 2022. Titles listed to make the publisher their home after theatrical release include Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2.
The sequel to the Oscar-winning animated film will return viewers to the world of Miles Morales, the young spider who took his place after Peter Parker tragically died in his own universe.
Masterfully blending both 2D and 3D animation, 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was an insane burst of color that captivated audiences with comic-inspired visuals and a compelling coming-of-age adventure story.
The movie sadly left Netflix just before Christmas Day in December 2020, but we hope the Sony deal will see the movie return to the platform in 2022, along with its sequel.
Starting January 1, 2022, there will be an 18-month window during which new Sony movies that hit theaters will be released exclusively on Netflix. Deadline reports that the deal includes certain Sony library rights, including previous entries to franchises the company has already established.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse release date
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will hit theaters on June 2, 2023.
Originally, the movie was supposed to hit theaters in October 2022, but this has been delayed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other schedule changes.
When is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse coming to Netflix?
We probably won't have to wait too long to watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on Netflix. New Sony movies hit Netflix roughly four months after they hit theaters.
If this is true of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and we expect it to be, we should see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on Netflix in October 2023.
The movie could take six or seven months to reach the streaming service. There are some differences regarding release dates, especially for some of the bigger games, but for now, you can expect to see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on Netflix in October, November, or December.
