Michelle Buteau will be starring in a new comedy series called Survival of the Thickest, which is coming to Netflix!
On January 24, Deadline reported that Netflix has ordered a series in Survival of the Thickest starring Buteau as the title character. If you're wondering why the title of this series sounds familiar, you've probably read Buteau's essay of the same name. The upcoming Netflix original series is based on these trials.
Buteau co-created the series with Danielle Sanchez-Witzel. Sanchez-Witzel will also serve as showrunner. Additionally, Buteau, Sanchez-Witzel, Ravi Nandan and Alli Reich have signed on as executive producers.

Production officially began on September 26, 2022, according to an Instagram post by Buteau. On October 5, filming was still going on. Filming was reported to have been completed on November 20, 2022.
