The new topic of the 'Bursa Speaks' event, organized by Bursa City Council with the support of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, was 'Earthquake Resistant Bursa'. In the 'Earthquake Resistant Bursa' Panel to be held on May 30, the earthquake reality will be discussed in all its aspects by the experts of the subject.
With the contributions of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, the 'Earthquake Resistant Bursa' panel is organized by Bursa City Council. The 'Earthquake Resistant Bursa' panel, where earthquake hazard and secondary disasters, earthquake resistant cities and structures and earthquake law will be discussed, will be held on Tuesday, May 30 at 13:00 at Atatürk Congress Culture Center Hüdavendigar Hall with the participation of experts in the field.
Speaking at the introductory meeting of the panel, Bursa City Council President Şevket Orhan emphasized that everyone related to the earthquake should be informed. Inviting everyone living in Bursa to the panel, Orhan said, “This study; A study on revealing the fault line that injured Bursa in the 1855 earthquake, causing collapse and destruction in Bursa. This issue concerns everyone and every institution living in Bursa. You must have knowledge. I believe that we should take this issue very seriously, especially after what we have experienced in the last earthquakes.”

Eskişehir Technical University Earth and Space Sciences Institute Faculty Member Assoc. Dr. Muammer Tün stated that the panel to be held is very valuable because it creates awareness. Stating that the realization of scientific data is in the hands of the whole society, Assoc. Tün said, “The aim and target here is earthquake resistant Bursa. Not to experience the devastating effects of the earthquakes we have experienced recently in Bursa. Thanks to this panel, we will have the opportunity to make very serious gains in terms of this information that we will share with the public. Our goal is to succeed together. If we want to make the whole of Bursa more resistant to earthquakes, we need to deal with it together. Scientists share scientific data with the public and inform people, but it is entirely in the hands of the whole society to apply and implement these data. In the next period, the existing earthquake-resistant building stock or the areas to be opened for new settlements, the urban development of Bursa in the next fifty-hundred-year period, and what should be considered in terms of earthquake resistance. We will try to find answers to these questions together. I would like to thank Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, Bursa City Council and our stakeholders for giving this opportunity.”
