A representative military henna event was held by Keçiören Municipality for the disabled individuals on the occasion of the 10-16 May Disabled Week. Keçiören Mayor Turgut Altınok, AK Party Ankara Deputy Lütfiye Selva Çam, AK Party Keçiören District President Zafer Çoktan and families of disabled individuals attended the entertainment held at Çaldıran Zümrüt Life Center in the district.
Disabled individuals, who were given henna on their hands and sent off to the military as a representation by their families, danced halays by having fun with songs and folk songs. In the event, where a cake was also cut, special individuals had a pleasant day on their special days.
Speaking to the participants, Keçiören Mayor Turgut Altınok said, “In 1994, our Keçiören Municipality opened the Disabled Education and Production Center together with our ÖZEV Foundation. In 1994, there was not even a proper department for the disabled in the ministries. Our Foundation President is Ms. Saime Toptan. Ms. Saime Toptan also held meetings, panels and symposiums on the issue of bringing the problems of our disabled citizens to the public. 'Accessible Cities, Barrier-Free Cities, Barrier-Free Life, Barrier-Free Life' are the slogans we used for the first time.'
