Istanbul Airport Hosted 205 Million 365 Thousand Passengers

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that more than 205 million passengers have traveled at Istanbul Airport, which maintains its place at the top, since the day it opened. Emphasizing that it is a leading global aviation center in Europe, Karaismailoğlu said, “We worked hard to reach these days. We implemented our vision projects one by one. We increased the number of our airports from 26 to 57,” he said.

Karaismailoğlu noted that one of his vision projects is Istanbul Airport, and that Istanbul Airport, which was opened by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on October 29, 2018, has written its name with golden letters in the history of aviation in Turkey and the world with its many features. Expressing that 38 thousand 888 flights were carried out in January, 35 thousand 561 flights in February, 39 thousand 396 flights in March, 40 thousand 734 flights in April and 44 thousand 31 flights in May, Karaismailoğlu said, “In the January-May period, 147 thousand flights were carried out. A total of 502 thousand 51 flights were carried out, of which 108 and 198 thousand 610 on domestic routes. In the same period, we hosted a total of 22 million 205 thousand passengers, 6 million 688 thousand on international flights and 28 million 893 thousand on domestic flights, at Istanbul Airport. Istanbul Airport, which maintains its place at the top, has carried out 1 million 417 thousand flights since the day it opened, while 205 million 365 thousand passengers have traveled.

Underlining that Istanbul Airport, which has made a name for itself with records, also stands out with the service it provides, Karaismailoğlu pointed out that the baggage claim time, which takes hours in Europe, is limited to minutes at Istanbul Airport, while the check-in time takes only 1 minute.
