International Marathon Izmir, Once Again Showcased in the World

Organized for the fourth time in Road Label status by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality under the partnership of World Athletics, International Marathon Izmir ended with Ethiopian Sheware Alene Amare in women and Benard Kipkorir from Kenya in men. The 42-kilometer 195-meter marathon 42K Run and the 10-kilometer 19 May Run, in which approximately five thousand participants created colorful images on the streets of İzmir, brought İzmir to the agenda of the international sports community as well.

Marathon İzmir, which was run for the fourth time this year, created a carnival atmosphere in the city. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor stated that sports is not only a physical activity but also a social and cultural enrichment tool. Hakan Orhunbilge, Head of Youth and Sports Services Department of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, expressed their happiness for the participation and said, “Organizations that receive such good social interactions suit Izmir very well. We are progressing with all our strength on the way to become a brand city in sports by doing more events.” İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club President Ersan Odaman, who stated that the number and quality of participants of Marathon İzmir, which is the fastest track in our country, increases every year, said: “The fact that there are approximately five thousand participants shows that there is a strong bond between Marathon İzmir and İzmir. .
