Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues its uninterrupted support to Kahramanmaraş, one of the provinces most affected by the great earthquake.

The Rural Services Department distributed the tomato and Maraş pepper seedlings produced in the Beypazarı ANFA Greenhouse in Kahramanmaraş, which meets a significant portion of Turkey's tomato and pepper needs.

YAVAŞ: “WE ARE ONE IN KIVANÇ, IN HOLIDAY AND IN ACI, WE ARE NOT DIVIDED”

Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who shared on his social media accounts about the support of vegetable seedlings to the producer from Kahramanmaraş, said, “We are one in joy, in feast and in pain, we are not divided. We distributed over 2 million tomato and Maraş pepper seedlings that we produced in our Beypazarı ANFA Greenhouse to our producers from Kahramanmaraş. May it be fruitful.”

ABB MOBILE ALL ITS OPPORTUNITIES IN KAHRAMANMARAS

A press conference was held at the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Coordination Center established in Kahramanmaraş Dulkadiroğlu district regarding the distribution program. Coordination Center Coordinator Mustafa Ünsal and Rural Development Department Head Ahmet Mekin Tüzün gave information about their services in Kahramanmaraş.

Reminding that all possibilities, especially search and rescue efforts, came to Kahramanmaraş from the first day of the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes, Ünsal said, “Our search and rescue teams saved 701 people alive in Kahramanmaraş. In our coordination center, ASKİ units have done a lot of work for the people of Kahramanmaraş to ensure that they can have healthy drinking water, mostly water failures, canal failures. We laid the decision line of 7 thousand 5 hundred meters. We did the water line, the transmission line and its repair. Again, the teams of our Department of Science and Technology supported the Governorship of Kahramanmaraş with approximately 28 vehicles. He served in debris removal works with our vehicles. Again, we have health studies, our spraying teams carried out spraying works in approximately 3 locations. Especially after the search and rescue, they applied pesticides to prevent the odors arising from the funerals and the reproduction of microorganisms. Our medication work still continues. We distributed 500 thousand 12 tents in Kahramanmaraş. We distributed 540 food parcels. We distributed 22 hygiene packages and over 887 million 14 thousand liters of drinking water. Our People's Bread Factory produces 779 breads per day. We gave bread to iftar tents in Ramadan. We have shower and laundry services. We sent them to villages, neighborhoods and rural areas," he said.

TARGET CONTINUING AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION

Underlining that they have started an important project so that the farmers living in rural neighborhoods do not leave the area and continue production, Ahmet Mekin Tüzün, Head of Rural Development Department, said:

“There is a very serious capital and animal presence in Kahramanmaraş. Primarily, we distributed our silages to our female producers and small businesses. In order to keep the animals viable in the first place, our 387 tons of silage was shipped here quickly. When there was a problem in feed dealers and fertilizer dealers, we also provided a fast supply of feed. Apart from this support we have provided, we have provided feed support to a total of 3 producers. We quickly gathered the lists of our producers registered to ÇKS in each district. We conveyed our distribution program to them and quickly delivered 747 thousand liters of fertilizer to our producers engaged in vegetable production. We have identified the needs of our farmers who want to buy seedlings and produce or meet their own needs in the garden of their house and our village citizens living in the village. We provide the tomato and Maraş pepper seedlings needed by our producers from Kahramanmaraş free of charge.”

“WE HAVE SEEN THE PRESIDENT OF MANSUR AND WE HAVE SEEN THE SERVICES DONE”

Stating that they had a difficult time due to the earthquake, the producers from Kahramanmaraş expressed their thoughts on the support provided by ABB as follows:

Yahya Guler: “We received the liquid fertilizers that our Dear Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş sent us before, we thank you. He sent our seedlings today. Thank you very much for providing such support for the first time. We don't know how to thank him either. We saw the President Mansur, we saw the services rendered. I would like to thank the Mayor of Ankara, Mr. Mansur Yavaş, who has been with us since the first day of the earthquake and tried to heal our wounds, for his services. I don't know anything else to say, God bless him."

Kenan Demir: “Our President Mansur sent us seedlings from Ankara and provided liquid fertilizer support. God bless you. No matter what political party you belong to, we are all human first and foremost. From the first minutes of the earthquake, Mansur Yavaş, our Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Ekrem İmamoğlu they were all on the field. God bless them all.”

Kenan Yılmaz (Yeniköy Neighborhood Headman): “70-80 percent of Kahramanmaraş makes a living from agriculture. Our farmers suffered a great deal from the earthquake here. Tools, equipment, fertilizer, diesel, everything was buried under the rubble. When our Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality first arrived in Kahramanmaraş, he first started to distribute seeds, seedlings, liquid manure and animal feed to the general problems of Kahramanmaraş after the life saving and wreckage works. There is a need for urgent intervention regarding these, because livestock producers are selling their animals and leaving. Farmers could not cultivate their fields and land. In this sense, they have been of great help. Food aid, water aid, tents and all kinds of aid to our people have been going on since the first day. We would like to thank Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş on behalf of our people and our village. I hope they don't forget us here. Especially our President Mansur stands above this place, this region. Thanks to all our support, we get all our support from our President Mansur, and his help continues to increase every day. Vehicles and buckets of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality are working in excavations. The public sees who is working.”

Selim Cüce (President of Göksun Chamber of Agriculture): “On behalf of Göksun farmers, I would like to thank our Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, Mr. Mansur Yavaş, who did not spare his support for our Kahramanmaraş farmers to produce in this narrow day and did not forget the Kahramanmaraş farmer. Good bye.”

Ömer Çedene (Chairman of Çağlayancerit Chamber of Agriculture): “Our farmers are very satisfied with the support. They want this to continue every year. I would like to thank our Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Mayor for making such an innovation and for distributing fertilizer and seedlings to our farmers.”

Memet Ali Bulut (President of Elbistan Chamber of Agriculture): “We hear that the Metropolitan in Ankara is doing its best in the districts. It gives seeds, buys the unsold goods of the producer, and gives fertilizer support. Ankara Metropolitan Municipality also distributed liquid fertilizer in Kahramanmaraş and Elbistan due to the earthquake. More than 20 thousand tomato and pepper seedlings are coming to Elbistan. I would like to thank all its employees, especially Mansur Yavaş.”
