Ankara Metropolitan Municipality transforms waste grass collected from parks and gardens and fresh vegetables and fruits brought from Ankara Wholesale Market into organic fertilizer with the compost method. Between 2-100 tons of fertilizer produced in Hasan Yalçıntaş Renewable Energy and Environmental Technologies Center in a period of approximately 120 months; It is evaluated in ABB's parks and gardens.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues its sustainable environmental projects without slowing down, in line with its zero waste approach, while contributing to the economy.

The Metropolitan Municipality, which has carried out projects that promote the understanding of sustainable environment, has started to turn the grass cut from parks and recreation areas and the waste fresh vegetables and fruits taken from Ankara Wholesale Market into fertilizer.

"Let's give to the soil what we take from the soil"

Within the scope of the protocol signed between Ankara Metropolitan Municipality BELKA AS and Ankara Wholesaler Market; Belka AS, which evaluates the fresh vegetables and fruits that are left to be thrown away, took action to produce organic fertilizer with the slogan "Let's give to the soil what we get from the soil".

Fresh fruit and vegetable wastes from Ankara Wholesale Market and grass cut in parks are brought to Hasan Yalçıntaş Renewable Energy and Environmental Technologies Center, which is established on an area of ​​500 square meters in the Tatlar region of Sincan district. The waste left to rot in a closed area for two weeks is then composted and turned into organic fertilizer.

Pollution of soil and water is prevented

The productive organic fertilizer obtained within the scope of the project, in which 100-120 tons of fertilizer was produced in a period of approximately two months; It is used for planting grass and ornamental plants in parks and gardens. Thanks to the organic fertilizer used, the pollution of the soil and underground water resources is prevented.

In project scope; It is aimed to increase the soil quality, good agriculture and the rate of use of fertilizer by the plant, to save fertilizer, to instill recycling and organic agriculture to the next generations, to raise environmental awareness and to save water.
