SUBU Faculty of Sports Sciences Lecturer and Sports Nutrition Consultant Melike Nur Eroğlu made 10 suggestions for those who want to eat healthy and do regular sports with the approach of summer, but cannot do this.

Sakarya University of Applied Sciences (SUBU) Sports Sciences Faculty Coaching Education Department Lecturer and Sports Nutrition Consultant Melike Nur Eroğlu made 10 suggestions for those who want to eat healthy and do regular sports, especially with the arrival of summer months, but cannot be successful.

Noting that most people want to acquire healthy habits in order to improve their quality of life and feel good, Eroğlu emphasized that changing habits is not as easy as it seems.

Melike Nur Eroğlu, Lecturer at SUBU Sports Sciences Faculty, stated that because everyone has their own unique lifestyle and tastes, a standard solution suitable for a healthy life cannot be produced for everyone. Here are 10 suggestions of Eroğlu;

Choose healthy carbohydrates such as whole grains and legumes.

Increase your fiber consumption.

Be seasonal, colorful and varied.

Choose healthy fats; Consume less foods high in saturated fat, avoid foods containing trans fats as much as possible. Instead, increase your olive oil consumption.

Reducing red meat consumption; Increase consumption of white meat such as fish, turkey and chicken.

Consume more home cooking. Cut down on processed foods.

Review your cooking methods. Instead of frying, prefer oven, boiled, pot method methods.

Use different types of seasonings instead of creamy and high-calorie sauces to enhance flavor in dishes.

Do not neglect water consumption. To quench your thirst, choose healthy options such as water, mineral water and buttermilk instead of sugary foods.

Listen to your hunger and fullness throughout the day while planning your meals. The reason for your hunger may be emotional reasons such as stress, sadness, loneliness. If you think you are eating emotionally, get help from an expert instead of dieting.

Instead of focusing on the calories you will burn while exercising, do an exercise that you love, maintain and enjoy. Remember, the best exercise is the exercise that is done.”

Melike Nur Eroğlu said, “You can start from one substance you want and move on to another after you form a habit. Be patient when you think it's not working in the short term. "Small changes over time will have lasting results," he said.
