The 34th meeting was held in Turkmenistan within the scope of the International Railway Transit Tariffs Agreement.

According to the statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, representatives from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Moldova, Czech Republic, Tajikistan and Russia and the Railway Cooperation Organization Committee attended the meeting held in the capital Ashgabat.

At the meeting, which was held for the first time in Turkmenistan, issues related to ensuring the competitiveness of transit freight transportation by rail were discussed.

Emphasizing the importance of holding the meeting in Turkmenistan, which is one of the key member countries of the Railways Cooperation Organization and which has an important strategic position in transportation from Europe to Asia, it was emphasized that it would contribute to increasing and diversifying the transportation volume in the north-south and east-west transportation corridors.

In addition, the participants noted that cooperation in a promising field such as rail transport and logistics is an integral factor in positive integration processes in the context of the globalization of the world economy and sustainable development in general.

As a member of the Railway Cooperation Organization in 1994, Turkmenistan joined the International Agreement on Railway Transit Tariffs in May 2022, while pursuing a strategy based on the harmonious development of railway infrastructure at the national level and the implementation of a coherent transport policy at the regional level.
