Individuals with special needs were sent off with a ceremony from Ankara to Izmit by high-speed train within the scope of the “Take My Hand and Walk With Me” project, which was carried out with the partnership of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the General Directorate of State Railways of the Republic of Turkey (TCDD).

TCDD General Manager Hasan Pezük, who attended the farewell ceremony at Ankara YHT Station and took a close interest in its guests, emphasized the importance of individuals with special needs being included in life with all the possibilities. “We railroaders attach great importance to this project, which will enable individuals with special needs, who are trying to hold on to life in difficult conditions despite all their disadvantages, to be in life like their other peers, and find it valuable.” Saying Hasan Pezük, the railways, which mean more than transportation for our citizens, have carried out human-oriented works and have always taken on the role of locomotive in such social responsibility projects.

General Manager Hasan Pezük, who stated that they are mobilizing all opportunities to make the lives of our people easier, said, “The world is changing rapidly, and Turkey is developing in parallel with this. The transportation conditions of our country are becoming standard for our disabled and non-disabled citizens. Both our Presidency and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure have very special efforts and sensitivities to remove the barriers of our disabled brothers and sisters in all project implementations. Our Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure carries out comprehensive studies on disabled access and their problems. We implement all our projects by taking these sensitivities into account. We design our new stations and stations and other facilities taking into account the needs of our disabled people, and we carry out the necessary modernization works for our existing stations and stations together with our disabled employees. We implement elevator, escalator, parking lot, ramp, platform, tangible surface applications in order to facilitate the accessibility of disabled individuals. We are signing important projects with approximately 350 disabled friends working in our institution, and we find their knowledge, experience and suggestions valuable.” said.
