Ünye Port Hosts Ro-Ro, Cruise and Container Ships

Ünye port, which is preparing to play an important role in maritime trade and transportation between Russia-Georgia-Turkey, hosts ro-ro, cruise and container ships. Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler fulfilled his promise to transform the Ünye Port, which previously carried out small-scale transportation, into a national and international container and tourism port. Ünye Port has made a name for itself with Ro-Ro maritime transportation, Container import-export and cruise sea tourism thanks to the work of President Güler.

Unye Port, whose depth was increased within the scope of the works initiated by President Güler and an additional berth was built, has become the most important and strategic maritime trade area of the region due to its proximity to the Black Sea-Mediterranean road and its neighbor to the 6 countries around the Black Sea.

With the completion of the first phase of the works, the first Ro-Ro expedition carrying high-tonnage trucks was carried out from Ünye Port. This first expedition to Russia in September 2022, which was described as a historic day for the Army, had a great impact on the public. Ro-Ro expeditions still continue.

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ARMY HISTORY, CROSSIA SHIPS ARRIVED

Another surprise occurred with the initiatives of President Güler at Ünye Port, where Ro-Ro voyages started. This surprise was the cruise ships with hundreds of tourists on board. Tourists on cruise ships anchored in Ünye Harbor since December have made a significant contribution to tourism by staying in Ordu.

IT HAS STARTED TO HOST CONTAINER SHIPS

The activity in Ünye Harbor did not decrease for a moment. In addition to Ro-Ro and cruise ships, the port has now started to host container ships. The container ship departing from Russia's Sochi and Georgia's Poti port came to Ordu's Ünye port and unloaded its cargo. Ongoing maritime export activities between Ordu-Georgia-Russia continue uninterruptedly. Export and import of products in various fields are now carried out by container ships. With the addition of container ships, Ünye Port is frequently mentioned in the region.

TRADE VOLUME WILL INCREASE

The fact that Ünye Port is at the middle point of the Central and Eastern Black Sea provinces in terms of population will reduce both foreign and domestic trade logistics costs and increase the trade volume of Ordu. Maritime trade will continue without interruption with the Ünye Port, which will gain momentum by combining with strategic routes such as the Black Sea-Mediterranean and Ünye-Akkuş-Niksar Road. Thus, Ünye Port will be brought on equal terms like other existing ports and will significantly shape both the provincial economy and the regional economy.
