One of the best teen shows on Netflix has to be Heartbreak High, and we're happy to know that new episodes are coming soon in season two. Unfortunately we don't have a release date for Heartbreak High season 2 yet, but we're putting together every new piece of information released about the upcoming season to create a guide to share with you.

Heartbreak High is an Australian Netflix original created by Hannah Carroll Chapman. It is a remake of the popular 1994 series of the same name and follows a new generation of students at Hartley High as they navigate love, sex, and heartbreak.

When a map detailing all the sexual adventures at the school is discovered by the staff, Amerie, the creator of the map, instantly becomes a social pariah as she fails to take the blame and reveal that her best friend/creative co-creator Harper is involved. Now, most of the students in the school definitely don't like Amerie because they have to take Sexual Literacy Education. While Amerie is uncomfortable with her peers disliking, she is more surprised that Harper no longer wants anything to do with her and changes her entire appearance.

Ayesha Madon plays the main character, Amerie. The rest of the cast includes James Majoos, Chloe Hayden, Asher Yasbincek, Thomas Weatherall, Josh Heuston, Will McDonald, Gemma Chua-Tran, and others.

Heartbreak High season 2 renewal

A month after the first season aired, Netflix announced that Heartbreak High would be returning for a second season. The first season spent three weeks among the world's top 10 TV series on Netflix, with more than 42,6 million hours watched in those weeks, according to the streaming giant. The show also received huge love with #heartbreakhigh with over 300 million views on TikTok. With these impressive successes, it was a no-brainer for Netflix to renew the series.

Is Heartbreak High season 2 filming?

As of April 2023, the cast and crew have not yet started filming. However, production will begin soon. In fact, the cameras will start working on May 29, 2023 and will continue until August 29, 2023. Once filming is complete, new episodes should go into post-production immediately, which is expected to take about six to seven months. before it hits Netflix.

Heartbreak High season 1 finale announced

The first season ends with Amerie and Harper finally reconciling and becoming friends after they finally have a candid conversation about what caused a rift in their friendship in the first place. Harper shares what happened to her on music festival night, including the attempted sexual assault of Chook and her friends and having to protect herself from her mentally ill father. Harper distanced herself from Amerie because she felt that Amerie wasn't there when she needed him most. So she decided to direct her anger at herself. Amerie apologizes and then things get better.

Harper, who has nowhere to go as his father is in the hospital and doesn't want anything to do with him right now, stays in Amerie for the time being. Amerie turns to her mother for help as she doesn't want Harper to live with her father anymore. Amerie's mom tells her they'll figure something out.

After a failed attempt to prosecute the Eshays for attempted sexual assault, Amerie and Harper don't know what to do. Feeling guilty for being there when Harper was nearly sexually assaulted, Ca$h decides to find a way to take down Chook and the others involved. He finds an incriminating video from the night of the attack and sends it to Harper. Now that Harper has solid evidence, he is able to take down some of his attackers, with the exception of Chook since he wasn't pictured in the footage.

Unfortunately, Ca$h is also detained for being featured in the video, but confesses her love to Darren before being taken away by the police. After a successful protest by the students, Ms. Obah can return and teach Sexual Literacy at Hartley High.

The final scene of the season finale ends with Harper and Amerie smashing Chook's car and setting it on fire before fleeing the scene.

What could Heartbreak High season 2 be about?

There's a lot to discover in season two. For example, Chook saw Harper and Amerie set his car on fire, so I'm pretty sure he wouldn't let him stay near them. They will most likely have to deal with it while trying to get revenge. Amerie and Harper may also try to find a way to have Chook arrested, as he does not attempt sexual assault like the others.

Harper's father will eventually be discharged from the hospital, but after what happened, I doubt Harper is living with him. But he can't stay with Amerie forever either. So where will he live? What about Ca$h? Will he stay in prison, if so how long? What does this mean for her and Darren's relationship? It seems like Malakai and Amerie still have feelings for each other so it will be interesting to see if they get back together. Malakai begins to question her sexuality in the first season. Maybe the second season can address that more.

Are Harper and Dusty really over? Could Harper have a new love in season two? What about Quinni? He and Sasha are not together in the first season. Maybe they'll work out their problems and get back together in season two, or maybe Quinni will find someone new. We can't wait to see what happens in Heartbreak High season 2!

Heartbreak High season 2 cast: Who could be in season two?

The official cast list for season 2 has not been released yet. However, we have an idea of who might return. Obviously, Ayesha Madon and Asher Yasbincek are expected to reprise their roles as Amerie and Harper. James Majoos (Darren) and Chloé Hayden (Quinni) will also likely return as Amerie's best friends. To be honest, most of the cast from season 1 will likely return.

Heartbreak High season 2 episode count: How many episodes will there be?

The total number of episodes for season 2 is unknown as of now. But we can probably expect eight more episodes like the first season. There are chances of more or less episodes, but our guess is that there will be eight. When we know the official episode number, we will share it.

Heartbreak High season 2 release updates (April 2023)

As we mentioned earlier, a release date has not been announced yet. Netflix will probably take some time to announce because the second season needs to be filmed and edited first. However, our best release estimate for now would be early 2024.

We doubt that new episodes will be available to watch by the end of 2023, as production is currently scheduled to complete in August. They will need to be edited in post production first, and we'll probably look for about six to seven months. This process before the new season arrives on Netflix. After six or seven months of post production, we would be looking at a February or March 2024 release. But remember, this is only our exit estimate. Heartbreak High season 2 may come sooner or later than we anticipated. We'll notify you as soon as the official release date is announced.
