The play “This is a Legend” Sarah Bernhardt, staged on the 100th anniversary of the death of world-famous theater actress Sarah Bernhardt, will meet with theatergoers at Edirne AKM. One day before the play, director Hakan Altıner and actors Dilek Türker and Tayfun Yılmaz will meet with the people of Edirne.
Edirne Municipality Atatürk Cultural Center and Municipality Conservatory host two very important events. First of all, Hakan Altıner, the director of the play “This is a Legend” Sarah Bernhardt, and actors Dilek Türker and Tayfun Yılmaz are meeting with the people of Edirne with a talk show. The people of Edirne will be able to attend the talk, which will be held at Atatürk Cultural Center and Municipality Conservatory, on Monday, March 13, at 19.30, free of charge. On Tuesday, March 14, at 19.30, the play “This is a Legend” Sarah Bernhardt will take the stage for free at Edirne AKM.
Written by John Murell and directed by Hakan Altıner, the play “This is a Legend Sarah Bernhardt” presents a section from the life of Sarah Bernhardt, who became the most remarkable actress of France's prestigious theater Comédie Française. Dilek Türker plays Sarah Bernhardt and Tayfun Yılmaz plays Pitou in the two-person play about a night that Sarah Bernhardt, whose right leg was amputated as a result of an accident on stage, spent with her butler Pitou.
The world-famous actress, who has devoted her whole life to theater, comes to terms with her past in the play. In this showdown, Pitou takes an important place in the events that shaped the actress throughout her life; her mother, Mother Superior Sofie, Organizer Garett, surgeon who cut off her leg, Writer Oscar Wilde. Dilek Türker, an artist who has devoted her life to theater, brings Sarah Bernhardt's emotional transitions to the stage with her masterful acting, while Tayfun Yılmaz keeps these characters of the past alive on stage with her acting skills.
The costume and decor design of the game belongs to Sadık Kızılağaç. The decor design of the game is accompanied by a visual feast prepared by R. Onur Duru and Mısra Candanadam with Video Mapping technique.
As a female artist, Sarah Bernhardt achieved great success despite the circumstances of her time. Dilek Türker-Theater Ayna aims to bring successful female profiles to the forefront and to transfer a legend from generation to generation with this play, on the centennial of the artist's death.
