Republican Women Talked About 100 Years of Honorable Struggle

The panel titled 'Women's Struggle History in the 100th Anniversary of the Republic', organized with the cooperation of Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality and Turkish University Women's Association (TÜKD), was held with great participation. The teacher of the lecturers who spoke at the panel, Prof. Dr. Nermin Abadan Unat, for Chairman Yılmaz Büyükersen, said, “He created a magnificent city with a magic wand. He also made great contributions to the women's issue.” said.

Established in 1859, the first female assistant, first female associate professor and first female professor of Mülkiye (Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences), who gave lectures at Boğaziçi University in the years following her retirement, and left a great mark in her field with her academic studies on political science and communication. His teacher, 102-year-old Prof. Dr. Nermin Abadan Unat also participated in the panel, Att. Nazan Moroglu, Prof. Dr. Gaye Erbatur and TÜKD President Meral Güler took place as speakers.

The opening speech of the panel held at Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Art and Culture Palace (Opera) was made by Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Prof. Dr. Yilmaz Buyukersen made it.

Büyükerşen said, “I am very happy to be here today. On behalf of all of you, I kiss your hand with your permission, and I want you to know that we will continue our respect and love for him until the end of our lives. I am not in favor of making a very long opening speech in order to listen to the thoughts and discourses of our teachers, especially Nermin, as soon as possible. I leave your presence and present my respects by expressing the love and respect that Turkish women, each of our women, each of us have for the mothers of us men, and the thoughts that will be a blessing to the souls of our deceased mothers.” he said.

The teacher of the teachers, Prof. Dr. Nermin Abadan Unat, on the other hand, said in his speech, “Dear Eskişehir residents, your President Yılmaz Büyükerşen created a magnificent city here with a magic wand, and changed this city. We have a beautiful city in front of us. Yılmaz Büyükerşen contributed a lot to the issue of women, which I attach great importance to in my life. You see in Eskişehir, women are present everywhere, whether it's day or night. It's a wonderful thing, it's so precious." she said. Unat then gave a speech about women's rights and the social position of women from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic.

TÜKD Chairman Meral Güler stated that they are happy to be in Eskişehir and said, “We are modern, Kemalist women who believe in the Republic. Eskişehir is also a republic city. I would like to thank President Yılmaz Büyükerşen for his great contributions to this beautiful city.” said.

In the panel, women's struggle for rights from past to present and what happened in Turkey were discussed.
