Salih Tekinalp, a psychologist working at Şanlıurfa Mehmet Akif Inan Training and Research Hospital, made important statements about the impact of the earthquake on people.

Although the earthquake is defined as a natural disaster with unpredictable results, earthquake phobia has started to occur among the people due to the recent earthquakes we have experienced as a country. Emphasizing that this fear was felt by people who experienced the earthquake themselves, Psychologist Salih Tekinalp said, “As you know, we have experienced very severe earthquakes. We evaluate the results of these together. As far as we can see in the field, we frequently hear complaints about dizziness accompanying it, nausea, the feeling of falling, and a situation as if they are going to fall even when they are in bed. Unfortunately, those who experienced the severe earthquake and experienced it personally will experience this situation for a few months.” said.

Stating that these fears will pass over time, Tekinalp said, “There is an event called systematic depersonalization, which is the best way to overcome these fears, and we will spread it over time and think that it is a normal thing. Those who come from outside the province and have not experienced this earthquake before do not feel the aftershocks that we are feeling right now. Because there is no such danger, such fear in their body. Our body has developed a defense mechanism. He's doing some more precise reflexes for us. It's not really something to be afraid of, it's predictable. The important thing is that we don't pay too much attention to these false signals. We will call these possible things, we will try to normalize them. Only in this way can our life go back to the way it was.”
