Since Turkey is on the 2nd degree fault line, the building materials to be used in living spaces should be preferred considering the earthquake risk. Heavy damage is prevented not only by structural reasons, but also by measures that can be taken indoors.

Stating that the kitchen, where we spend most of our lives, is likely to be caught in an earthquake and that it is quite dangerous if precautions are not taken, Bodrum Kitchen Furniture Founder Mustafa Güneri said that all the materials to be used should be resistant and flexible against breakage and explosion, and listed the earthquake precautions to be taken in the kitchen as follows:

“In case of a possible fire in the event of an earthquake, the installation of all electrical kitchen appliances should be done correctly and completely, and at the same time, their robustness should be checked annually. Flammable and explosive materials should be stored with lids and locks, and it is very important to choose the correct socket place for these materials in wet areas such as kitchens and bathrooms. For use and storage space, special tub partitions can be made for cutting tools, or it can be fixed with a cutting tool tray in a separate part of the kitchen. The body and shelves must be fixed both vertically and horizontally. In addition, these cabinets and shelves can be arranged by using non-slip shelf covers, thus preventing the materials in the cabinet from sliding forward during swinging. At the same time, locked push-up cabinet doors should be preferred and hinges with stoppers should be used on the doors. On the floor, industrial non-slip flooring is preferred and if there is a ramp in the kitchen, the use of non-slip tape prevents falls and accidents due to loss of balance during rocking.
