Stating that after the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş and affecting 11 provinces, urban transformation negotiations with 40 sites continue, Tuzla Mayor Dr. Şadi Yazıcı stated that the citizens of Tuzla showed great interest in the urban transformation works after the earthquake and said, “Our citizens, who had a very difficult time making decisions in advance after the earthquake and even had difficulties in establishing a dialogue, are now contacting us for urban transformation by having a dialogue with us. We have mobilized all our means to meet these demands.”
Tuzla Mayor Dr. Since 2009, when he took office, Şadi Yazıcı has been in talks with the beneficiaries for the evacuation of buildings with moderate damage, especially the sites built before the 1999 Gölcük Earthquake. Mayor Yazıcı, as a result of his negotiations with 100 sites within the scope of urban transformation, approves the urban transformation of 60 sites, and works hard to eliminate the problems experienced in 40 sites due to the different demands and wishes of the right holders. After the earthquakes affecting 11 provinces centered in Kahramanmaraş, the residents of the site, who could not reach a consensus, started to be involved in the urban transformation process by meeting with Mayor Yazıcı.

Tuzla Mayor Dr. Şadi Yazıcı said, “We lost many lives in earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş and affecting 11 provinces. I wish God's mercy on all of them. I wish the injured a speedy recovery. We felt the reality of the earthquake once again. One of the most important measures to be taken before an earthquake is to renovate risky buildings and to make new buildings earthquake resistant while renovating old buildings. We wanted our urban transformation projects to be renewed within the scope of the risk map we made with Istanbul Technical University since 2013, and we wanted the old building stocks in certain areas to be renewed within the scope of urban transformation, and we were in talks with our citizens.

Mayor Yazıcı said, “After the earthquake, our citizens, who had difficulty in making decisions beforehand, wanted our citizens faster, even more so, and with whom we had difficulty in establishing a dialogue, contacting us for urban transformation by having a dialogue with us. We have mobilized all our resources to meet these demands. In addition to the transformations we have already made in 8 independent departments for years, we are carrying out our new transformations very quickly.”
