Within the framework of the 59th Library Week, Bornova Municipality, which will bring together many different activities from conversations to panels, from writer-reader meetings to workshops, has prepared the first event for families. The panel titled “Measures That Can Be Taken Against Substance Addiction among Youth, Children and Disabled People” was held at Uğur Mumcu Culture and Art Center.

Pointing out that addiction is a universal public health problem that is increasing day by day in his presentation, Karababa said, "This problem is a problem that affects not only the individual who uses drugs, but also his family, close environment and the whole society with the losses and damages it causes." Ali Osman Karababa, who also gave information about addiction types, stated that addiction is not a disease that develops suddenly and explained its development process.

We must lead the youth

Bornova Mayor Dr. Mustafa İduğ pointed out that substance abuse is an important problem and said, “We must protect our children, the cornerstone of society. We must take the lead by preventing them from straying into evil ways. As Bornova Municipality, we are working to raise awareness of families on this issue. We also try to direct our youth to sports, arts and cultural activities. For this, we increase the number of sports fields in our district and organize courses in many fields from theater to music.”
