Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu made examinations in Malatya, which is among the provinces affected by the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes. Karaismailoğlu, who made a press statement at the Malatya Disaster Coordination Center, said, “We faced a disaster like no other in the world due to two major earthquakes on 6 February. Our 11 million people in 14 provinces, including Malatya, were directly affected by the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş. The magnitude of the disaster affecting an area of 110 thousand square kilometers, aftershocks and harsh winter conditions were compared with difficulties in the first moments. We have been in the disaster area with all our colleagues since the morning of February 6, we stand by our earthquake victims. We Carried Over 394 Thousand Passengers with Our 100 Passenger Trains
Stating that the main service units of the Ministry and its affiliated and related organizations have carried out the critical works undertaken since the first day of the earthquake, Karaismailoğlu said, “Our 1275 kilometers of railway line was affected by the earthquakes. Works were completed at 1182 kilometers and it was opened to traffic at the first moment. Our activities continue uninterruptedly for the reopening of the 93-kilometer railway line. We carried more than 394 thousand passengers with our 100 passenger trains sent to the disaster area. Our 64 freight trains delivered 965 wagons of aid to the region. including Malatya Train Station; We provided accommodation for a total of 6 thousand citizens at stations, passenger and personnel service wagons, guesthouses, social facilities and construction sites. We are still providing accommodation services. In Malatya, 21 passenger wagons were allocated for the accommodation of our disaster victims. We continue to provide accommodation for our citizens at the Gaziray construction site in Gaziantep, at the Nurdağı construction site within the scope of the Mersin-Adana-Gaziantep High Speed Train Project, and at the Toprakkale construction site. Moreover; allocated for shelter in our social facilities. We transported thousands of our citizens with 108 trains departing from Malatya. We have lost some of our Ministry personnel and their precious families in Malatya during the earthquakes. I wish God's mercy on all of them and patience for those left behind. Malatya-Çetinkaya, Malatya-Yolçatı line sections were opened to train traffic by making necessary controls. The route between Malatya and Doğanşehir, which passes through the provincial border of Malatya, has been opened for emergency uses.
