According to the statement made by China's National Bureau of Statistics today, in February, the CPI index increased by 1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while the PPI index decreased by 1,4 percent. Economists had forecast a 1,7 percent increase.

After the Chinese New Year celebrated at the end of January, the increase in the CPI index fell from 0,8 percent in January to 0,5 percent due to factors such as the decrease in consumption needs in February and sufficient supply in the market. Food prices were effective in the decrease in CPI. Food prices, which increased by 2,8 percent in January, became 2 percent in February.

In February, industrial enterprises increased their production speed with the increase in demand in the markets. The PPI index remained at the level of January. However, the PPI continued to fall in February due to the relatively high index of last year. This figure decreased by 1,4 percent compared to last year.
