The Ministry of Commerce Customs Enforcement teams seized 22 kilos and 600 grams of cocaine in an operation carried out on a ship moored in Aliağa Port.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, during the routine controls carried out in the Aliağa port area by the İzmir Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate teams, ships coming from risky routes are controlled by underwater and ship search teams, and all areas where drug smugglers can hide drugs on ships are routinely checked by ship search teams.

During the controls carried out in this context, foreigners anchored in the port bayraklı One ship was closely followed by Customs Enforcement teams. In the studies carried out, it was determined that a black bag was placed on the underwater part of the ship (the hull), while the diving teams stepped in and took the bag ashore from where it was found. On the other hand, the search was carried out by intervening the bag by the teams waiting in coordination on the land. In the waterproof bag, 17 packages, which were tightly wrapped so that they would not be affected by sea water, and thought to contain narcotic substances, were detected.

As a result of the analysis and measurements made on the sample taken from the packages, it was determined that the substance seized was cocaine, and a total of 22 kilos and 600 grams of cocaine were seized. A detailed search was carried out by the Customs Enforcement Ship Search Teams on the ship in question, and the ship was inspected in all its dimensions, from inside and under water.
