Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Antalya Water and Wastewater Administration General Directorate (ASAT) teams detected the places of dozens of people in Hatay with the devices used to find lost leaks in drinking water lines. 12 ASAT teams using acoustic devices in Hatay became the ears of all rescue teams in the region.

24 Hour Listening

Using acoustic devices that can even hear the sound of water drops underground, the teams shout "If anyone can hear my voice, hit it twice" when silence is achieved. With two knocking sounds coming from under the debris, it detects that the earthquake victim is alive and their approximate location. Then, the closest search team removes the casualty from the point determined by the operator. The teams, who listened to the wreckage for 24 hours, helped bring dozens of lives back to life.

Finally, at the 108th hour of the earthquake, it was determined by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Fire Brigade team that the mother Neslihan Karadeniz and her children Fatma, Münire and Ramazan were alive in the wreckage before the rescue operation.
