Derya Yanık, Minister of Family and Social Services, said, “Within the framework of our work with the Ministry of Health, the children who have been dug out of the rubble, taken to hospitals and whose treatment has been completed, cannot be handed over to any third party other than the personnel of our Ministry, who says, 'I am a neighbor, a relative, a relative'. We will deliver our children to their families in a safe manner, following the identification of the parents or relatives after they are handed over to our Ministry.” said

Minister Derya Yanık, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Bilgin and Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank made statements about the work carried out after the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş after Vice President Fuat Oktay at the AFAD Coordination Center.

Minister Yanık stated that within the scope of the intervention plan, the Ministry has responsibility for psychosocial support services and in-kind aids.

Explaining that the psychosocial support teams they transferred to the region immediately after the disaster started working in the field, Yanık stated that they sent the in-kind aids that are under the responsibility of the Ministry and donated by the citizens and institutions and organizations to the earthquake region.

Minister Yanık said that they are systematically working with other institutions and organizations to supply the supplies and deliver them to the citizens.

Indicating that they carry out the transfers related to the elderly and disabled people very quickly in the boarding institutions affiliated to the Ministry, Yanık noted that there was no problem except for a few damaged places, and that those who were here were transported to the relevant places for precautionary purposes.

Burn continued:

“There were a few points about our children, we also transferred them. Currently, we do not have any problems with our citizens and residents staying in our boarding institutions. Unaccompanied children have become a hot topic today. I would like to make a special announcement about this. We are now responsible for the children we have taken to our institutions in the earthquake zone and supervised. Apart from this, within the framework of our work with the Ministry of Health, the children who were taken out of the rubble, taken to the hospitals and whose treatment was completed, are not handed over to any third party other than the personnel of our Ministry, who says, 'I am a neighbor, a relative, a relative'. We will deliver our children to their families in a safe manner following the identification of the parents or relatives after their delivery to our Ministry. I especially want to share this. Because we see that there is both public concern and disinformation in some groups. At this point, please our nation, families and interested parties. Families who cannot reach their children and cannot hear from each other after being pulled out of the wreckage can apply to any unit of our Ministry. We will ensure the necessary coordination and try to bring them together if they are under our supervision.”
