MEB Provides Accommodation Services to 10 Thousand People in 450 Provinces

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer and Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, who have been continuing their investigations in Malatya, which he reached since the day of the Kahramanmaraş Pazarcık-centered earthquake, made statements about the latest developments.

Speaking at Malatya AFAD Coordination Center, Minister Mahmut Özer said; Governors in Malatya stated that the 2nd Army Command, Gendarmerie Command, AFAD, Red Crescent, Police Department, non-governmental organizations and mayors managed the processes in a coordinated manner and that food, drink, shelter and especially the needs of children and women were provided in a sustainable way.

Expressing that citizens are reached not only in assembly centers and tent centers, but also in all points, Özer said, “We can easily reach between the neighborhoods, villages and all our districts. Thank you to all our citizens who sent help. Hopefully, we will get through these processes quickly, collaboratively, using all the means of our state." used the phrase.

Stating that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gave all kinds of instructions from the very beginning of the process and that the Ministers are actively working in the field, Minister Özer said, “All the units of the state are actively on the field. No unit is more prominent than the other unit. Everyone is trying their best. We are grateful to everyone.” said.

Pointing out that they have a very wide spread as the Ministry of National Education, Özer noted that the logistical supports and mechanisms are strong in all districts and villages.

Pointing out that as the Ministry of National Education, they currently provide accommodation services to 450 thousand citizens in these ten provinces, including dormitories, schools, hostels, practice hotels, YBOs and teacher's houses, Minister Özer said: “Hopefully, we will gradually increase this number. On the other hand, 7 thousand 46 volunteer teachers currently support the organization in the field. About 2 psychological counselors and guidance teachers, who are very critical in these processes, especially to support the psychological state of our children and women, are meeting with our citizens intensively in ten provinces. Again, in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education AFAD, which we started about two years ago, 4 teachers from the search and rescue unit continue their search and rescue activities in ten provinces. As we explained before, we increased our capacity for food and bread production in vocational training 136 months ago. As of now, we produce 6 thousand breads per day and distribute them to ten provinces. Hopefully, we will increase this number to 700 million by the weekend. We produce hot meals for 1 thousand people and distribute 800 thousand food packages in the food and beverage production centers of vocational education, practice hotels and teacher's houses. We sent 400 mobile kitchens to all our provinces. I would like to thank all our teachers and administrators for their hard work. Hopefully, we will overcome these processes by carrying out these processes in an organized manner.”
