Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler gave information to the council members at the Unye Municipality January Assembly Meeting, which he attended as a guest. Commenting on Ünye Port, which has reached national and international qualifications with the studies carried out recently and opened to cruise tourism after Ro-Ro voyages, President Güler noted that the next target is to start ferry services from Ünye Port.
President Güler added that they will manage the city in unity and solidarity with a culture of consultation, and that they will continue to set an example with the investments and works in harmony.
“NEW CENTURY LOOKS AS THE YEAR WHERE OUR COUNTRY WILL MAKE A GREAT BREAKTHROUGH”
Pointing out that Turkey has entered the second century, Balkan Güler noted that the country will make a great leap forward in the new century.
President Güler continued his words as follows:
“It has been 1923 years since 100. The new century seems to be the year when our country will make a great leap forward. For this reason, we wanted to evaluate the position of Ordu and Ünye. As you know, the Black Sea is an inland sea and Ünye is a very important port. We have a war between Ukraine and Russia. Like everything else, this war will end. The position we will take after the war is over is very important. I want to make good use of this opportunity. The elements that make a city a city are its garbage, its infrastructure, roads and water. We are carrying out important works together to solve these problems.”
NEXT TARGET IN ÜNYE PORT: FERRY LOADS
Mentioning the importance of Ünye port, President Güler noted that the next target is to start ferry services from Ünye port.
President Güler continued his speech as follows:
As a province and district living on the coast of the Black Sea, we need to see if we can evaluate this enough. We have increased the 33-meter dock, which has existed for 150 years, to 280 meters. Now 3 ships are approaching at once. We increased the depth. Ro-Ro loadings were made. This is an important advantage now that cruise ships keep coming to the port. After that, container loading will be done. The most important point here is that Ünye opens up to the world with the Black Sea. Our next target is ferry loading. Therefore, these are horizon studies for us. Employment means business to tradesmen. It means resources to hotels and restaurants”
“WE ARE WORKING WITH A VISIONAL MUNICIPALITY APPROACH BASED ON R&D”
Mayor Güler pointed out that they were working with an R&D-based visionary municipality approach and said, “We were crushing hazelnuts in certain places and exporting them with trucks. God willing, we will now load and transport it with Ro-Ro ships. It will now be possible to load the hazelnuts to the ship by trucks and send them according to supply and demand. Thus, the added value and returns of hazelnuts will increase. We are looking at what we can do with our current values by not being content with the existing ones with a visionary municipality based on R&D.”

Ünye Mayor Hüseyin Tavlı stated in his speech that they were extremely pleased to host Mayor Güler in Ünye and said, “Mr. Minister, we are extremely happy to see and host you among our fellow citizens in Ünye. We will continue to strive to solve the problems of our city and district in 2022, in unity and solidarity with the same excitement and speed as in 2023, and more.
