Moscow Metro Receives 48 New Moskva-2020 Trains for Big Circle Line

In December 2022, the Moscow Metro received 48 new modern Moskva-2020 trains for the Big Circle Line (BCL). It is planned to supply about 300 more latest model trains this year.

Modern Moscow-2020 trains will allow maintaining convenient traffic flow for passengers on the line. The new train is more comfortable and wider for passengers with a lower noise level, the new wagons are 15% quieter. The gates are 15% wider than Moscow trains and 28% wider than Rusich trains.

Additionally, there are route indicators on the outside of the train, and each seat has a slot for charging devices. The eight-car train has 368 USB ports. Two air conditioners maintain a suitable temperature and disinfect the air in the car.

BCL will be the world's largest metro circle line and one of the most popular lines of the Moscow Metro. Its length will be 70 km and it will have 31 stations. Other metro lines will have 47 interchanges with Moscow Central Diameters (MCD), train stations and Moscow Central Circle (MCC). The line will improve transportation service for 1,2 districts with a population of 3,3 million, including 34 million people living within walking distance of the new stations. The train fleet at BCL will include 100% innovative Russian trains. The last 9 BCL stations will open to passengers this year.

More than 48 modern Russian Moskva-2020 trains were delivered for the Big Circle Line in December last year. The new BCL depots, which these trains will serve, will create approximately 1.900 new jobs for the city. “The train waiting time at BCL stations will traditionally be convenient from the opening of the entire line,” said Moscow Deputy Mayor for Transport Maksim Liksutov.

Earlier, Moscow Metro carried out the technical launch of the northeastern section of the Big Circle Line. A Moskva-2020 train went from Savyolovskaya to Elektrozavodskaya station in test mode.

The innovative Moskva-2020 train is the most modern Moscow Metro train model, surpassing foreign counterparts in many features. The new train Moskva-2020 won the Red Dot Award for best design: Product Design 2021. The international jury unanimously awarded the highest score in the Trains and Planes category.
