Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, which renews the cultural and historical assets of the capital in accordance with their originality, will restore Gölbaşı Hallaçlı Mehmet Ağa Mansion, which is among the important historical buildings of the War of Independence, while preserving its natural texture.

Restoration works to be carried out in the historical building by the Department of Cultural and Natural Heritage will be completed within this year.

Taking action to preserve the history of the capital and transfer it to future generations, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality took action for the restoration works of Gölbaşı Hallaçlı Mehmet Ağa Mansion, which was among the important historical buildings of the War of Independence.

The Department of Cultural and Natural Heritage, which will restore Gölbaşı Hallaçlı Mehmet Ağa Mansion, the construction of which was started in the 1920s and completed in 1929, in accordance with its texture, also received the opinions and suggestions of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) while preparing the project to be realized in the historical building.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who announced that the restoration works will start soon in the historical Hallaçlı Mehmet Ağa Mansion with his social media accounts, said, “This is one of the most important material and spiritual gates of the National Struggle, which met the bread needs of our heroes in the War of Independence; Hallaçlı Mehmet Ağa Mansion. We are completing our restoration work this year by preserving the natural texture of our historical structure.”

THE MOST IMPORTANT EXAMPLE OF ANKARA IN THE RURAL

The Metropolitan Municipality, which has completed the project work for the Hallaçlı Mehmet Ağa Mansion, which provided food support to the soldiers during the War of Independence, will start the restoration work of the historical building in January.

Bekir Ödemiş, Head of the Department of Cultural and Natural Heritage, stated that they aim to bring the historical mansion, which was donated to the Metropolitan Municipality by Mehmet Atak's daughter, Andaç Atak, and shed light on the Republican Era, to bring it to the city tourism, and gave the following information about the restoration works to be carried out in the historical building whose project work has been completed. :

“We are in front of the Hallaçlı Mehmet Ağa Mansion in the Hallaçlı District of our Gölbaşı district. Dear Andaç Hanım, daughter of Mehmet Ağa, donated the mansion to our municipality without any compensation. We presented our project to the Culture and Nature Board. Our project was accepted in May 2022, and then we started bidding for its implementation. As a result, we held our tender in December. Restoration work will begin after the New Year. We will be preserving such an important civil architectural structure, which we will describe as the most important example of Ankara in the countryside, and transfer it to future generations.”

“I DONATE THE MANSION TO LIVE IN MY FATHER'S NAME AND TO SERVE CITY TOURISM”

Stating that he wanted the historical mansion to live in the name of his father and donated it to Ankara Metropolitan Municipality to serve the city tourism, Andaç Atak said, “Gölbaşı Hallaçlı Mehmet Ağa Mansion carries the architecture of the first years of the Republic. Therefore, he became very interested in the mansion, which is a historical monument, who wanted to buy or donate it, but my heart did not consent. So I wanted this mansion to live in my father's name. When our President Mansur took office, I donated the mansion to the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality with peace of mind. I hope the restoration works of the mansion will be completed as soon as possible and it will serve both the village and Ankara.”

Gölbaşı Hallaçlı Neighborhood Headman Veysel Solak thanked the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality for continuing its efforts to bring the historical Hallaçlı Mehmet Ağa Mansion to city tourism.
