General Directorate of Highways Achieved Many Successes in 2022

General Directorate of Highways achieved many successes in 2022 as well. The total road length served by the General Directorate, which has brought the standard of road infrastructure across the country to the highest levels with the projects it has opened one after the other, has reached 2022 kilometers by the end of 68.

Divided road works continued rapidly in order to reduce accidents by increasing traffic safety and to reduce the death rate in accidents, as well as to save on vehicle operating costs by improving capacity inadequacies. The General Directorate of Highways, which put 2022 kilometers of divided roads into service in 440, offers safe, comfortable and uninterrupted transportation to drivers with a total of 28 kilometers of divided road network.

In 2022, 998 kilometers of hot mix asphalt roads were built, while 20,5 bridges with a length of 119 kilometers and 59,5 tunnels with a length of 18 kilometers were built.

As of December 31, 2022, the General Directorate of Highways has a road network of 30 kilometers in total, of which 26 kilometers are bituminous hot mix (BSK) coated, 36 kilometers are surface coated (SK), and 810 kilometers are other roads. Of this road network, 864 thousand 68 kilometers of which is highway, a total of 700 thousand 3 kilometers (633 percent) consists of divided roads.
