The Digital Agriculture Library, where thousands of publications located in the two campuses of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry are transferred to digital media, serves not only users in Turkey but also many users from different countries. The digital library, whose number of members has reached 25 thousand, has been entered from 1 countries in the last 127 year.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Library, which was established in 1944 under the Ministry of Agriculture, Publication and Promotion Directorate for the first time in order to assist the personnel in their professional research within the Ministry, opens its doors to users in Ankara Yenimahalle and Söğütözü campuses under the Education and Publication Department.

The library, which has a large collection that has been preserved for many years and has been constantly renewed, contains an important part of the published publications on agriculture and forestry in our country. For this reason, it is an agriculture specialization library since almost all of its collection consists of publications on agriculture and forestry.

When considered as a library on agriculture within the scope of "Libraries and Sustainable Development Goals" published by the International Association of Library Associations and Organizations (IFLA); In addition to offering the agricultural resources in the library to everyone's equal use, activities are carried out to provide users with quick access to information online.

With the infrastructure and system established, the library has the capacity to include all printed publications produced in the agricultural field. There is a total of 165 square meters of library area, 160 square meters of which are Periodicals in the Central Library, 400 square meters of Ottoman and Rare Works Department, and 725 square meters in the Söğütözü Library.

In addition, there are reading halls with a seating capacity of 50 people in total.

BOOK PRESENCE

A total of 22 publications, of which 30 publications, almost all of which are related to agriculture, of which 13 thousand are books, are offered in the Central Library, and 500 publications in the Söğütözü Library.

Digitization activities continue. 16 thousand publications related to the duties and fields of activity of the Ministry were scanned and digitized as approximately 2,5 million pages. These digitized publications include textbooks taught in agricultural schools during the Ottoman period and 50 issues of approximately 2 journals that shed light on the early periods of the Republic and our agricultural development history.

DIGITAL LIBRARY

The Digital Agriculture Library was established as a result of the studies carried out to reach a wider readership regardless of time and place. The library can be accessed free of charge, within the framework of open access principles, at the address of kuthane.tarimorman.gov.tr.

Thanks to the software on the website, all content defined as a PDF path can be indexed, thus providing a very fast "Full Text Search" facility to the user.

According to the searches made in the last year, the site, which has attracted great interest, received impressions from a total of 230 countries, primarily from Germany, Azerbaijan and the USA. The site was accessed from 127 countries.

The most visits to the Digital Library were from Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa, Antalya and Adana. The site has a total membership of 25 thousand via e-Government. The age range of the members ranged between 17 and 94, with an average age of 37,3.
