While the price of 1 cubic meter of CNG (compressed natural gas) used in EGO General Directorate buses was 2019 TL in April 1,67, it has increased to 20.77 TL today. The cost has increased by more than 1000 percent.
The total expense of the EGO General Directorate in November 2022 is 382 million TL. Total ticket revenue is 120 million TL. The monthly loss is 262 million TL. This loss has been subsidized by the ABB budget for our citizens for months. However, the cost burden and taxes increased day by day.
ABB's use of natural gas is not for commercial purposes, but for public access at an affordable price. therefore, its tariff and taxation should be carried out according to the same criteria. The natural gas used in CNG is 28 per thousand of the natural gas used in Turkey.
CNG bus fleet has been established in Ankara Metropolitan Municipality due to its low fuel cost and environmental friendliness. This issue affects Ankara Metropolitan Municipality the most, as it has the largest fleet of CNG buses (84 percent) compared to other municipalities.
Currently, full ticket is 6.5 TL, student ticket is 3.5 TL and student subscription is 90 TL per month. According to the new decision taken at the UKOME meeting, as of January 15, 2023, we regret to state that the full ticket is 9.5 TL, the student ticket is 4.75 TL, and the student subscription is unlimited 140 TL per month.
In this process, a situation has been presented to the President, the relevant Ministries and BOTAŞ to make a new tariff arrangement in favor of our citizens in the price of CNG used in public transportation. If this arrangement is not made, it will be necessary to increase ticket prices again. Otherwise, it does not seem possible for EGO to continue its activities.
It will be publicly honored.
