Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu, emphasizing that Turkey's power and efficiency in maritime trade has increased with the investments and regulations, and said, "Our Turkish-owned ship fleet has increased and its capacity has reached 41 million DWT deadweight tons (DWT). Thus, our country has become the 14th country with the largest ship fleet in the world.”

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made a statement about the maritime sector. Noting that investments continue rapidly in the maritime sector, as in every mode of transportation, and that they are proud to receive the return of these investments, Karaismailoğlu said: Bayraklı Merchant Marine fleet; Our Ministry entered a growth trend again after 2020, with the joint work of ship owners and operators. The Turkish Shipping Fleet, which was 2021 million 5 thousand DWT in 761, increased by 2022 thousand 687 DWT as of 777 and reached 6 million 449 DWT. Our number of ships reached 413. In the 100th anniversary of our Republic, we will continue to grow even more by continuing this increasing trend.”

Underlining that the highest increase in both the number of ships and tonnage in ship types is seen in chemical tankers, Karaismailoğlu stated that the tonnage of Turkish-owned chemical tankers increased by 290 thousand 632 DWT.

Karaismailoğlu said, “As of the end of 2021, our Turkish-owned maritime fleet was in the 31th rank with approximately 15 million DWT,” and underlined that Turkey rose one place to the 14th rank compared to the previous year. With these steps we have taken, our country's trade will develop, and exports will break new records with new employments," he said.
