Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın examined the Kartepe Cable Car project, which is Kocaeli's 50-year dream and progresses rapidly, on site. Expressing that the city will have a new vision with the cable car project that will allow the natural beauties of Kocaeli to be discovered once again, Mayor Büyükakın said, “Our citizens will get to know another face of Kocaeli with our project that will reach Kuzuyayla from Derbent. Kartepe will be rediscovered with its unique view. Kartepe will be the center of four seasons tourism. We know this very well. Kocaeli also has the potential to become a tourism city," he said.

President Büyükakın, who received the information that the works continue rapidly with the completion of the curtain walls by erecting the columns of Derbent Station, said, “Our cable car line that will run between Derbent and Kuzuyayla will be 4 thousand 695 meters long. "The journey time will be 500 minutes on our cable car line with a capacity of 14 people per hour," he said. Noting that Kocaeli has rich and healing thermal waters, Mayor Büyükakın said, “Our city is also rich in terms of thermal springs. With its high mountains and snow on these mountains, it is also the center of Turkey's important winter tourism. As the Metropolitan Municipality, we look at tourism as a very strategic area. Of course, it also has its own unique geography and climate. Kocaeli is very beautiful in every way. Our people can find many titles of tourism in Kocaeli,” he said.

Making an evaluation after the examination, in which AK Party Kocaeli Provincial President Mehmet Ellibeş, Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Balamir Gündoğdu, Kartepe Mayor Mustafa Kocaman, Deputy Secretary General of Metropolitan Municipality Gökmen Mengüç and technical teams were present, Mayor Büyükakın said, “I am following our ropeway project step by step. It will be one of the important achievements of our city. Continuing on its way with the aim of rising to the world leadership in tourism, Turkey has taken very important distances in this sense. As Kocaeli, our service sector should also take advantage of this development and economic opportunities. That is why we are implementing important projects such as the ropeway.”

Expressing that every region of Turkey is beautiful in its own way, Mayor Büyükakın said, “Marmara region also contains traces of ancient times, natural beauties and all kinds of tourism. Our city also knows its power in terms of tourism. In this sense, our infrastructure, which we have strengthened in the field of tourism, will have a positive impact on the revenues of our city. Of course, there is no stopping on this. Our infrastructure and superstructure works will have a very positive effect on our development in the tourism sector. I believe that when our ropeway project is finished, our citizens, tradesmen in our region, and all our people working in the service sector will evaluate the economic development.” President Büyükakın completed his visit after a detailed presentation about the project.
