President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gave information about the metro line in his speech at the opening ceremony: “The 34-kilometer-long 8-station metro line, which starts from Kağıthane station and extends to Istanbul Airport, be beneficial to Istanbul and the country. Thanks to this metro line with a capacity of 800 thousand passengers per day, it will be possible to reach Istanbul Airport from Kağıthane in 24 minutes. We used 10 tunnel boring machines at the same time in order to put our metro line into the service of Istanbul as soon as we promised. The construction process of our metro, which broke many records in itself, is the story of bringing a proud work full of domestic and national engineering achievements to our country. The metro line will be used free of charge for 1 month. This state's budget is for you, this national budget is for you. We continue to fight for you. ”

“Added value to the value of Kağıthane”

Speaking about the metro line before the opening ceremony, Mayor of Kağıthane Mevlüt Öztekin; ” Kağıthane has become Istanbul's gateway to the world, thanks to the metro line. Our citizens who take the metro from Kağıthane will be able to reach Istanbul Airport in a short time. In this way, the metro line added value to the value of Kağıthane. Kağıthane has become the central district of transportation. On behalf of the residents of Kağıthane, we would like to thank our ministers, especially our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and everyone who contributed to the project for their investment and support.” he said.

At the ceremony, Mayor of Kağıthane Mevlüt Öztekin presented a painting with the 28th verse of the Surah Ra'd (You know, hearts find peace only by remembering Allah) and a rosary to the vineyard as a souvenir of the day.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, after cutting the ribbon with the protocol members at the end of the opening ceremony, got on the subway to conduct investigations. The Sadabad Choir, consisting of Aşık Veysel Primary School students, welcomed President Erdoğan at the station. Students sang songs for President Erdoğan here.

President Erdoğan, who made examinations on the metro line, then sat on the vatman seat and used the metro.

Kagithane-Istanbul Airport Subway is integrated with Mahmutbey Subway; It consists of 2 stations: Kağıthane, Hasdal, Kemerburgaz, Göktürk, İhsaniye, Terminal 8, Cargo Terminal, Istanbul Airport. The Gayrettepe-Kağıthane section of the line is planned to be operational in April this year. With the opening of this section, the metro line will be integrated into the metrobus line.
