China Supports Domestic Consumption and Imports at a Time of Slowing Global Demand

Chinese officials announced on Saturday, January 28th that in today's conjuncture where global demand is loosening, stimulating consumption and encouraging imports will be considered as the driving force of the economy.

In this context, official authorities aim to accelerate the process of introducing foreign investment projects, to maintain the stable value of the yuan, to facilitate cross-border travel, and to participate in domestic and international commercial events. It also focuses on measures to support farmers in the spring planting period.

On the other hand, consumption increased by 28 percent compared to the previous year during the Lunar New Year holiday, which ended on Friday, as reported on Saturday, January 12,2. This increase reflects the phenomenon of a kind of leap after the challenging conditions of the world's Covid-19 era.
