IETT, the rooted institution of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), broke new ground in its 152-year history. For the first time, a woman started to work as a garage supervisor at IETT. Nesrin Yılmaz Binay, who is responsible for the preparation of 180 different buses every day, is the supervisor of 98 technical personnel and 263 drivers at the IETT Sancaktepe Garage.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) continues to increase women's employment all over the city and to give more place to women in management. IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu's 'Woman Manager' vision is spreading rapidly in all institutions of the municipality. IETT, the deep-rooted establishment of IMM with its giant transportation network, is one of these institutions… IETT, which carries out 55 thousand daily trips, ensures one billion 250 million trips per year. A first was experienced in the 1871-year-old IETT, whose roots date back to 152. For the first time, a woman started to work as a garage supervisor at IETT. Industrial Engineer Nesrin Yılmaz Binay, who has been working at IETT for 12 years, became the supervisor of Sancaktepe Garage.

Buses that go to many points of Istanbul from Çekmeköy – Sultanbeyli and Sancaktepe on the Anatolian Side are getting ready and departing under the command of Nesrin Yılmaz Binay.
Explaining that she is very proud to be the first and only female garage supervisor of IETT, Nesrin Yılmaz Binay said, “I think that there should be more female employees in the field. I think women bring a different perspective. I was very proud when they presented this task to me. I am very happy that they gave me this opportunity,” she said.
