In the operation carried out at the Kapıkule Customs Gate by the Customs Enforcement teams of the Ministry of Commerce, 22 smuggled electronic cigarettes were seized on a truck that came to enter Turkey.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, while the Customs Enforcement teams were carrying out their routine checks within the scope of anti-smuggling activities, one of the trucks that came to the customs area was evaluated as suspicious and came under the spotlight.

When the truck from Slovenia, which is stated to be carrying paint, was taken to the scale for weight control, it was determined that the weight of the vehicle was more than the declared weight. The teams sent the vehicle for x-ray scanning. It was determined that there were items of different shapes in the trailer section of the vehicle, apart from the legal load. The vehicle was taken to the search hangar to be searched in detail.

During the control, it was understood that the customs seal on the trailer was tampered with. As a result of the detailed search, 22 thousand 800 smuggled electronic cigarettes were detected among the legal burden, which were loaded without declaring. While the value of the contraband was determined to be 9 million 200 thousand liras, electronic cigarettes were confiscated.

While the investigation into the incident was continuing before the Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a suspect was arrested and sent to prison.
