Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank inaugurated Huawei Turkey Ankara R&D Center. The new R&D center, whose approval and licensing processes were completed by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, set off with 50 engineers and researchers in the first place.

It is aimed to increase this number to 2023 in 150. Huawei Turkey Ankara R&D Center will mainly focus on artificial intelligence projects and new generation wireless communication systems.

Minister Varank stated that Huawei, as a technology company operating in Turkey for a long time, has been carrying out R&D and production studies and that a new one has been added to this chain with the center registered by the ministry recently.

Varank stated that they want the development of value-added production in Turkey and that the way to achieve this is through R&D and innovation, and made the following statements.

“It is important and valuable for us that global brands develop technology in our country. Huawei makes a great contribution to this with its R&D engineers in our country. Huawei's production and investments in cloud computing, renewable energy, inverter and artificial intelligence will contribute to a more competitive industry. We congratulate them and on this occasion, we invite other global brands to operate more in our country. I would like to thank Huawei for its investments in Turkey and for the renewable energy-specific work they will do in the future.”

WE AIM TO OPEN AN R&D CENTER IN IZMIR IN 2023

Huseyin Hai, Director of Huawei Turkey R&D Center, also stated that they are proud to open the second R&D center in Turkey today, after their investments for more than 12 years.

Hai said, “Since its establishment, our R&D center has brought more than 6 new talents to the Turkish IT ecosystem. Considering the 2023 targets, our R&D structuring this year; we included the cloud computing team, the green energy team supporting the Digital Power Business Group, the SaaS (software services) and PaaS (platform services) teams. Next year, we aim to open an R&D center in İzmir in order to provide more services to the local informatics ecosystem of our country.” used his statements.

Ziya Altunyaldız, Chairman of the Parliamentary Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources, Information and Technology Commission, also attended the opening.
